Are you ready to take a walk?

Bear Town
Miss Cathy and Miss Jenn took Coal for a tour of the eastern part of the state of West Virginia in the spring of 2007. One of their favorite stops was Bear Town near Droop Mountain. They loved the paths in the woods and the large eroded rocks. It was so quiet and peaceful that they could hear the birds singing in the trees.  Visit Coal's Blog to see the other places he has been in WV.  http://www.coaltrekwv.blogspot.com/

Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine

Beckley has an Exhibition Mine where you can actually travel down into a coal mine. It has a great vistors center where there are presentations and displays that teach about the life of a coal miner in W.V. For more information visit the website...http://www.beckleymine.com/.

Welcome to TREK WV

TREK WV is a health and wellness program designed to challenge the 4th and 8th grade students in the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston to "virtually" walk around the state of West Virginia. Using pedometers, students will monitor the number of steps they take each day and record their walking in a journal. Each week they will be challenged to walk from one city or town to another as they learn about the great state of West Virginia.

Visit to Seneca Rocks
After Miss Cathy and Miss Jenn's hike to the top of Seneca Rocks, they stopped to eat a great lunch at a restaurant that looked like a log cabin. That was the perfect stop before they made the trek to Spruce Knob, the tallest place in West Virginia!

Weirton Steel
Weirton is located in the northern panhandle of West Virginia and is the site of the first iron furnace west of the Appalachian Mountains. The steel mills in this photograph are part of Weirton Steel.
